The Power of Story

The Power of Story

Claim your story and take charge of your life! You have the power to be the hero of your journey.

Welcome to The Power of Story: an Expressive Arts workshop!

Come join us for a morning filled with inspiration and creativity as we explore The Power of Story. Stories have the ability to connect us, inspire us, and move us but sometimes our stories and beliefs also get us stuck inside a narrative that no longer serves who we are becoming. The good news is that we have the power to change our stories and beliefs. And, when we claim our story and take charge of our life, we get to be the author of whatever story we choose. Change your story, change your life.

You have the power to be the hero of your story!

DETAILS:

Sunday, June 23 2024 (in person); 10:30am - 12:30pm at 1398 Cartwright Street, Granville Island

Monday, June 24 2024 (virtual); 5:00 - 7:00pm PST / 8:00 - 10:00pm EST online

How do we change our stories?

By using the creative process.

When we are stuck in our stories & beliefs about who we are and what we are capable of, creative thinking is the way we break free from those stuck places. When we are flexible, and in the flow of the creative process without judgement, we give ourselves permission to be different, to imagine new worlds and expand the idea of what we thought was possible. We can move from what we thought was impossible (stuck or rigid) to possible (free or flexible).

What will be doing?

These Expressive Arts based workshops will provide a supportive environment where you can tap into & nurture your creative processes based on the theme The Power of Story using different mediums and modalities:

In Person: visual arts (drawing, painting, collage, etc) and writing (narrative, poetry, etc) as the primary modalties

Virtual: writing (narrative, poetry, etc) and movement (gesture, embodiment, etc) as the primary modalities

Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore The Power of Story in a welcoming and creative environment. We can't wait to see you there!

“Working with Sabrina this past month has been a gift. With her guidance and patience, I’ve been able to tap into emotions I wasn’t aware that I was still holding onto and process them through my writing. I’m looking forward to continuing Expressive Writing in April; there’s so much more to uncover!”

— Kirsten

“Workshops with Firepot Expressive Arts Therapy have served a wide array of purposes in my life. They've acted both as a sweet, gentle way to relax and unwind after a long day to initiators of change through the creative and therapeutic processes presented by sparking deep personal insights that unfolded through my days, weeks and months after the workshop. Sabrina holds space for gatherings in-person and virtually in beautiful, intentional ways that have allowed me to make meaningful encounters with myself and others in my local community and beyond. I always leave her workshops feeling inspired and uplifted!”
